
Direct Legal Services
HIV Law Project provides free civil legal services to HIV-positive residents in Manhattan and the Bronx through an integrated, general practice service delivery model. Experienced and seasoned legal staff provide clients with a range of legal services, including intake and assessment, advice and consultation, brief service and advocacy, out-of-court settlement negotiations, document preparation, and full representation in court or at administrative hearings.

Program Highlights
- Handling over 20,000 individual legal cases in wide range of legal areas, including housing and eviction prevention, immigration law, public and private benefit and health insurance issues, discrimination and HIV-related confidentiality issues, last wills and testaments and advanced planning, debtor/creditor law, and family law issues;
- Serving approximately 1,000 clients each year
